Better Than My Earthly Dearest

To love you as I should, I must worship God as Creator.

When I have learnt to love God better than my earthly dearest, I shall love my earthly dearest better than I do now. In so far as I learn to love my earthly dearest at the expense of God and instead of God, I shall be moving towards the state in which I shall not love my earthly dearest at all. When first things are put first, second things are not suppressed but increased.(C.S. Lewis, Letters of C.S. Lewis)

Purpose

The Good Life:Looking to God as my Help and Happiness through Jesus who is my Pardon and Perfection and depending on His grace, I purpose to fight to trust and to love in every situation and in every relationship, to the glory of God. (Romans 1:16-17; 5:1-2; 12:1-2; 1:5; 16:26)

Foundation: My trust and love is grounded in gospel truth. (Romans 1-11)

1. God is the Supreme Good.
2. Man is an idol worshiper.
3. Jesus is the double cure.
4. Faith is trust in the promises.
5. Love is the obedience of faith.
6. God is sovereign over all.
7. Jesus is a willing Savior for all.

Framework: My trust and love is shaped by gospel principles. (Romans 12-16)

1. Seek God for LIFE.
2. Serve others for their good.
3. Submit gladly to authority.
4. Sacrifice in the exercise of freedom.
5. Speak the truth in love.
6. Suffer to the glory of God.
7. Show grace to the ill-deserving.
