After They Have Closed Their Own Eyes

As a just punishment of the wicked, after they have closed their own eyes, God makes their hearts dull and heavy, and hence, seeing, they see not. (John Calvin, Institutes, Book 1 Chapter IV)

Purpose

This blog is a reminder of the gospel and an encouragement to live it out every day. (Galatians 2:20)

The Life Question: How am I to trust and to love in this situation/relationship? (Galatians 5:6; Romans 1:5)

The Good News: God graciously offers a gift of righteousness that leads to LIFE through faith alone in His Son, Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:21-30; 4:1-8; 5:6-11, 17-21)

The Good Life:Looking to God as my Help and Happiness through Jesus who is my Pardon and Perfection and depending on His grace, I purpose to fight to trust and to love in every situation and in every relationship, to the glory of God. (Romans 1:16-17; 5:1-2; 12:1-2; 1:5; 16:26)

Foundation: My trust and love is grounded in gospel truth. (Romans 1-11)

1. God is the Supreme Good.
2. Man is an idol worshiper.
3. Jesus is the double cure.
4. Faith is trust in the promises.
5. Love is the obedience of faith.
6. God is sovereign over all.
7. Jesus is a willing Savior for all.

Framework: My trust and love is shaped by gospel principles. (Romans 12-16)

1. Seek God for LIFE.
2. Serve others for their good.
3. Submit gladly to authority.
4. Sacrifice in the exercise of freedom.
5. Speak the truth in love.
6. Suffer to the glory of God.
7. Show grace to the ill-deserving.

Look to Jesus and Live! (John 3:14-16; Hebrews 12:1-2)
